It was too snowy and icy to stride out at all this morning. I started out with the ice spikes on, but ended up carrying them in my hands for most of the run because the new snow kept packing in between my shoes and the overshoes. The spikes are only 1/8 inch long anyway so, while they’re great on ice, if there’s new snow on top of the ice the spikes never reach the ice anyway. My quads are sore from the extra effort of lifting my legs through the snow – I think I run more flat-footed when I’m trying to keep from slipping, which makes it considerably more work to get the back leg forward.

What product do you use for these ice spikes? Are they designed for running? Or are the more of a hiking thing? Curious minds want to know.
Hey Brad, I’m using the sure-foot get-a-grip ice joggers. They work pretty well in the ice. The link goes to a post I wrote last January. I haven’t kept track, but I’ve logged quite a few miles in these.
i am gonna show this to my friend, bro
